Oil Pressure Sensor

FuelTech 0-150 PSI Oil Pressure Sensor Summary

FuelTech 0-150 PSI Oil Pressure Sensor Summary

An oil pressure sensor is not required for the ECU to operate, but it is highly recommended for monitoring engine health and ensuring safe operation. The stock oil system typically operates at pressures ranging from 30 to 80 PSI, depending on engine conditions. Adding an oil pressure sensor to this system is straightforward and provides critical real-time data for monitoring oil pressure. In this example, I used a FuelTech 0-150 PSI sensor, but any pressure sensor capable of handling oil is acceptable. Ensure the input is correctly configured in FT Manager.

The FuelTech PS-150 Pressure Sensor (Part #5005100020-BLK) is designed for accurate and reliable pressure readings in the range of 0-150 PSI. It is typically used to monitor oil, fuel, or wastegate pressure, making it an essential component for performance-driven setups.

Mounting the Pressure Sensor

To mount the PS-150 oil pressure sensor in place of the stock oil pressure switch, note that the PS-150 uses 1/8"-27 NPT threads, while the stock switch has 1/8" BSPT threads with 28 TPI and a slightly smaller major diameter (0.383" vs. 0.405"). Due to differences in thread angle (55° for BSPT vs. 60° for NPT) and pitch, these threads are incompatible, requiring an adapter. A 1/8 BSPT to 1/8" NPT female adapter, easily found on Amazon or eBay, will allow the PS-150 sensor to be securely installed in the same location as the oil pressure switch.

Wiring Diagram

The FuelTech PS-150 Oil Pressure Sensor uses a standard 3-pin connector with the following pinout: A - Ground, B - 5V, C - Signal. Wiring these sensors is straightforward; refer to the FuelTech manuals for additional details if needed. You can use any available white input. See the wiring diagram below for proper installation.
